Bot protection (captcha) for vBulletin 3 and 4

The built-in tools for separating humans from bots (robots) in vBulletin 3 and 4 are outdated or easily bypassed by most bots. That is why, a set of plugins has been developed for vBulletin 3 and 4 that provide reliable human verification using modern tools:

  • reCAPTCHA v2 (Google)
  • reCAPTCHA v3 (Google)
  • SmartCaptcha (Yandex)
  • hCaptcha (Intuition Machines)
  • Turnstile (Cloudflare)

New plugins add effective bots protection providers to the vBulletin Human Verification Manager.
In the vBulletin LTS project, these plugins have been fully tested for security and compatibility with all php versions supported by vBulletin LTS.
Depending on the selected captcha and its settings, forum visitor verification can be performed in one or several ways:

  • In the background, without any interaction with the forum visitor (invisible captcha)
  • With special checkbox "I'm not a robot" or "I'm a human"
  • An additional task, the type and appearance of which is specified in the settings of a specific captcha

Once the plugin is installed, captcha verification can be easily added to vBulletin pages that require bot protection:

  • Registering a new user
  • Creating a new post on the forum
  • Search
  • Contact Us form
  • Recover Lost Password
