This is a beta level release intended for testing.
Whether you want to encourage broader polls with guest voting or are simply concerned about members faking accounts to inflate results the cookie protection found in vB 4.x is easily foiled and not enough.
This simple addon extends the existing poll system tracking the ip address on each vote and providing a secondary layer of defense to deter malicious use.
As a result members who try to slide by with multiple accounts or logging out will be foiled, or at least slowed down, and that means more accurate polls and less concern over fraud.
Installation:
This is an install and go plugin with no settings or customization needed. The addon will impact every vote on every poll made as soon as installed so please give it a test run for yourself.
Potential Issues:
Although rare logging can cause errors as users on shared IPs collide. For that reason we've included a new phrase "useralreadyvoteip" which you may wish to further customize to address any incorrectly flagged votes.
