Features

This product makes NNTP (usenet) backend for vB forum. It's useful for high-loaded forums, when moderators should read thousands of posts every day. WWW is absolutely uneffective for such tasks. So, my choice is NNTP .

You can use any client, that supports HTML in usenet posts: Mozilla Thunderbird, Opera & so on.

NNTP gate is written with modern technology, http://nodejs.org/. It's quite fast, supports SSL and effectively use CPU with big clients count. System scripts for monit & ubuntu upstart also included.

Warning
  1. This product is NOT for beginners. You MUST have linux admin skills.
  2. This product is NOT for small forums. It will be useless there.
  3. Your forum MUST use UTF-8 encoding. May be, 8-bit latin encoding will work, but it was not tested and not planned to support.
  4. I strongly recommend to take sources from github directly.
  5. This product does NOT allow posting. Only to read. But that's not a problem, since most time is spent to read tons of messages. Each message has URLs for reply via www.
  6. This code is NOT 'reuseable' in vborg terms, as most of my other mods, It's distributed under http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/ license. May be i'll change it to GPL or BSD, if there will be lot of commiters, who helps to develop this product.
Requirements

- Dedicated linux server with root access
- 700 mb free ram to run node instance.
- UTF-8 encoding for database content
