Hello,
as I am unsatisfied with all those heavy designs with blocky graphics, I made something minimal: SharpLite. It's gray and neutral and I encourage you to build your designs upon it (for example putting some color in it).
I am open to suggestions for the style, but of course I won't be able to work on it 24/7.
For example, I haven't changed the IM and online/offline-status icons - partially because this is a scaffold design, but mainly because I don't have any better ones - can someone of you recommend some (I'm bad at graphical design, so I won't make them).

Credit:
I use modified versions of the Silk and Silk Companion icons (http://famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/ and http://damieng.com/creative/icons/silk-companion-1-icons respectively) in many places (mostly grayscale versions and mashes), all other icons are either default vBulletin icons or (poorly ) selfmade ones.

License:
All of my work in this style (i.e. the modifications to the vBulletin templates and images as well as own icons and the modifications to the Silk icons) are licensed under the http://sam.zoy.org/wtfpl/COPYING.
That basically means: You don't have to attribute me as the author of this skin and the modifications to the Silk (Companion) icons and you can do everything you want with the design - even call it yours and sell it. You just have to attribute the authors of the Silk and Silk companion iconsets and Jelsoft because I can't (and don't want to) change their license terms of course.
The Show Your Support section says otherwise, but I don't care.
Why did I do this?

• For the sake of having something licensed under this

• Because I embrace the philosophy

• Because I see this as a scaffold design and a restrictive license would just get into its way

• I didn't (have to) spend too much work on this anyway

Known issues:

• Some internet browsers (I think out of all mainsteam browsers only IE doesn't support this in its most current version) don't support the :last-child CSS pseudoclass, which means that table headings won't have a white border on the right side in these browsers. Can't fix this.

• Some of the Silk icons didn't like the conversion to GIF and have jagged edges - can anyone help me with this?

• The multiquote button doesn't visibly respond currently because buttons aren't images in the design but rather normal, styled links - I might fix this in the future.

• Not really an issue: Do you think the Reply and New Thread buttons would look better if there was some space between them and the main content tables?

How to install:
Just import the .xml file attached to this post and upload the sharplite/ folder in the sharplite.zip to your forum's root directory (NOT images/)

Updates:
08/23/09: Wrong (non-global) phrase in SHOWGROUPS template replaced (you could only see a blank button as the PM button before, now it has a caption). sharplite-style.xml was changed.

This should work with vB3.8.4 as no templates in SharpLite changed in this update differ from the original ones.
